I am Justin Dodson, PhD, LPC an author, speaker, and therapist. I am a native of Memphis, TN and I attended the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, where I earned my B.S. in Psychology. I went on to graduate as the first African American male to earn a Masters in Counseling from Lipscomb University. I then became the first African American male to earn a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Memphis.
WHO DO I WORK WITH?
My experience includes adjunct professor, academic counseling, sexual assault and QPR certified suicide prevention training & consulting. I have worked with professional students, addiction, divorce, parenting, sex offender behavior, & common life adjustments.
I specialize working with adult men and couples who have some but not limited to the following presenting concerns
Professional working men who are struggling with career, family, stress management, porn & sex addiction, personal identity, relationship, and school concerns. I also work with athletes, healthcare providers, first responders and leaders.
Men who are experiencing depression, anxiety, fear, or other issues that hinder their ability to live their lives the way they would like to/deserve.
Men and couples who have communication or intimacy barriers, difficulty trusting, or overcoming infidelity.
WHAT TO EXPECT
I provide a down to earth, professional environment for clients to feel valued and accepted. There is no matter too small to explore. I use therapeutic assignments that align with your goals to to help direct the counseling process.
I expect clients to show up as you are, commit, and continue putting one foot in front of the other.
